Default New Member Intro

Hi guys,

I live in South Africa in Queenstown ( a small town in the country ) at the time of writing I am a single 40 year old car enthusiast. Over the years I rebuilt and restored many cars, mostly Alfa Romeo's. I have a soft spot for V8's and am currently rebuilding a Porsche 928s4 which has suffered a thrust bearing failure. I also own a 1980 Citroen GSA, a 1993 Alfa Spider S4, a 1991 Alfa 164 3.0 12v, a Alfa 1991 33 1.7 16v, a Alfa 156 V6 Sportwagon and a 2006 Mercedes Vito and trailer combo (classic car rescue rig)

Most of these cars were purchased as non runners or in need of attention and have either been restored by me or are waiting in line.

I recently acquired a 2001 XJR ( in BRG over Black Leather ) along with a 1999 XJ8 parts car as a project with issues which I will go into detail in the appropriate forum

I hope to share my experiences with other enthusiast's and with your help save my XJR

Cheers

Andrew

Hi All,

New to the Jaguar world. Don't own one yet. I'm an MG guy by history (and land rovers). But in search of a classic car where the family can join me for outings. Was struggling to find a good fit when I realized I had forgotten about Jags. DOH! I'm deciding between a '76 South African built (LHD) XJ6L, South American '68 XJ6 Manual, and a '60 something Mark X. Perhaps acquiring 2 or even all three. All in decent shape but more barn find. Some tinkering to get roadworthy. All rare in my mind and all need saving. So perhaps one at a time. Likey the '76 first.

I've seen some great archival promotional videos on-line for various models, but nothing from the launch of the XJ. Anyone got any? I really like the old videos. I'm worried the launch was too far into BL ownership that they wouldn't have sprung for a video.

Warm Regards,

Jake
