Default New Member Intro

Greetings to all from Keyport New Jersey. I just joined yesterday and happy to be a member of the forum. I've owned many Jags since the 1960's including a 59 Mk I, 68 Mk II, 67 Mk X, 68 420G, and a 68 E-type. At the present time I'm driving an 83 XJ6, a 94 XJS and soon hope to be motoring around in my 89 XJS. I'm a retired university professor, but have a part-time private practice in speech pathology here in New Jersey. I'm presently trying to sort out a thorny problem with the 89 XJS, and will certainly appreciate and welcome any advice offered. The V12 is a challenge for me in comparison to the old rides I once owned (and regret not still having). I look forward to interacting with the membership and,

Best Wishes To All,
Bud

Question New guy needing help with rear brakes on '95 XJS

Howdy, y'all!

I'm a new guy from soggy Ohio. I've owned four Jags, and still have the latter three; a '95 XJS rose bronze convertible, an '01 black XK8 convertible, and an '05 silver XK8 L sedan. Glad to come aboard.

Scanning the threads I see you have some really knowledgeable folks. Perhaps someone can help me . . . . The '95 XJS has overheating rear brakes and I couldn't compress the caliper with a C-clamp without opening the bleeder valve. Replaced the e-brake shoes, the rotors, cleaned the pads (about 3/4 new), sanded and lightly greased the slide bolts/rails? on the calipers, and reassembled. Still overheats. My friendly mechanic said it was most likely collapsed flexible hose brake lines attached to the calipers. Just checked that and I can blow air through in both directions.

Questions: What else could be causing the overheating? Is there some one-way valve in the master cylinder? What would cause the continuous tightening of the calipers on the rotors? If you have ANY possible solutions, please advise.
