Default Noob 2006 XK8

Hey folks

I'm looking at buying a 2006 XK8 convert. Tags expired on the car in late 2011, just wondering whether or not I want to buy a project....

Car is located in Northern VA in my neighborhood. Owner is now under duress from the county to get legal or hide the car I think I can get a deal on the car and stash in my garage and work on it to get it legal.

Welcome to the forum Marc,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. As an Englishman, I'll not even attempt to offer any advice on 'getting legal' in Virginia!

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the USA Mid Atlantic Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/usa-mid-atlantic-md-va-dc-de-wv-65/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, Marc,
Depending how much pressure the current owner is under, you could get a Screaming deal on that car! I hope it all works out for you, no matter which way it goes.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

He's got ten days...so I think saturday/sunday is the deadline from the county.

I'm a fair guy, I don't want to drag him over the coals....too bad....but I don't want to be stuck with a $5000 2 ton paperweight either...

I have preliminary approval from She who must be obeyed (wife). Not sure she'd even be able to drive the car, she's 5'2".

So now its just to reading forum and asking some questions...

Well, not to leave you all hanging...

Was supposed to to have a second meeting with the seller. When I arrived, The seller was not there and the car was gone. So I'm assuming that he found another buyer, or got it towed to a shop.

I left to messages and sent an email so far no response.

So I guess it was not meant to be...

Just wanted to thank you folks for the support and great forum.
