Default New Member Intro - David, UK, 2006 XK Conv in Silver

Hi everyone,

I should have done this before but just been very busy with work and playing with my new XK! I have always wanted one and very happy with it. I live in Kent UK, the car is a 2006 XK convertible in liquid silver and has cover over 170k miles but the engine is in great condition. The bodywork and interior, well, need some work. This is (weirdly) what drew me to the car as I wanted something I could do up a little and play with whilst also getting tremendous value for money. I paid only £6,000 for it as despite the high mileage it has full annual service history over the last 13 years - some services after only 3,000 miles covered!

Below is a list of things I have planned and need to address.
  • Fit my dashcam
  • Drivers side window is going up slowly and needs a "push" for last few inches
  • Near side headlight is cloudy, chipped and very yellow
  • Black out the silver dash trim - Done! See pics
  • Remove fuse for aerial
  • Corrosion on tailgate, rear wing and near side door
  • Front bumper paintwork
  • Offside front wing paint work
  • Seats need work and some restoration on drivers seat only
  • Update satnav disk - SatNav isn't working at all. Possible as the aerial broke off when PREVIOUS owner took it through car wash with it up!
  • Clean engine bay
  • Get new jag badge for front grill as cracked
  • Remove aerial and fill hole
  • Sand and repaint alloys
  • Change exhaust x pipe and back boxes to twin tail pipes
  • Repaint engine red
  • Relocate aerial to new modern one on tailgate
  • Upgrade airfilter
  • Get new chrome side vents
  • Fix cigarette lighter as not working - possibly rusted
  • Change seat and wing mirror buttons to chrome with black indent like on 2014 models
  • XKR Bodykit with vents?
There is also a "hole" in the interior roof - not the canvas hood, just the plastic where the buttons are. it looks like something should have been there that has been removed, not a hole from damage or anything.

Will post lots of questions I am sure and cant wait to meet people at events and meet ups - especially for 2006 onwards XK owners!

Thanks

David

So, do you prefer black or the original silver?

This is how the dash looks now
