Default New Member Introduction

Hey! Just joined and still don't have a Jag in hand. Have been seeking an XK8/XKR for a few months and think the right one has come my way but it is still in delivery mode and won't pass muster until after a certified Jag mechanic gives me his blessing.

Anyway, have a history with British cars dating back to ca. 1975, but mostly MGBs. Have restored a couple of cars and have had a national show winning MG for a few years. Giving it to son, so need a replacement Brit in the garage, hence have been seeking a Jaguar. Have friends with XK8s, XKEs, XK140s, XJSs, etc, and have driven a handful of Jaguars over the years.

Forum experience has been with MGBExperience.com, a wonderfully helpful and friendly bunch associated with MGBs. Been a member over there for several years.

Probably due to the enhanced technology involved with later model Jaguars, find the discussion on the Jaguar forum to be highly technical and sometimes a bit hard for a lay gearhead to completely understand. Hoping understanding comes with hands on experience. If not, there are some independent Jaguar shops in my area which will get more business.

About me - retired meteorologist who still dabbles as expert witness in litigation involving weather. Have lived in multiple areas east of the Rockies (Indiana, Illinois, Wyoming, Texas, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee). Have two grown children, one a teacher, the other in the movie trade. Four grandkids, two boys and two girls. In 50th year of marriage to a very forgiving woman. Other than British cars, interests include genealogy, photography, history, and woodworking - hamfisted at all of them.

Welcome to the forum Jim,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums. Let's see some photos of your MG.

Never rush buying any Jaguar. Find the right one with good provenance and it'll be a pleasure to own and drive.

Follow Norri's link to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome Jim, Hope the XK8/XKR is up to muster. I've had mine about a year now and with the help and guidance of the members of this forum she runs like new. I'm interested in your work as an expert witness involving weather, who can I sue for this miserable winter we are experiencing! we are in the middle of yet another blizzard and I'm dying to take the jag out for a run. It hasn't left the garage since Halloween.
