Default New member introduction

Hello everyone

I have a 2001 X-Type 3.0 automatic, most people say it's an unusual car for somebody my age (26) but I've had it over a year now and I still like it. As you can probably tell I like applying chrome to it wherever possible.

The pictures didn't come out as well as I had hoped, the car is actually dark green but it looked blue in the original photos so I've had to doctor the shading a bit, but I hope you like them.

Hello,
I saw a car with chrome around the window openings like you've added, it was also a dark color, and I rather liked it!

I know it's easy to overdo something like that so that it looks cheap, but so far, in my opinion, you haven't crossed that line.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

To be fair it was pretty chromed up when I got it. I didn't add the window line chrome, it already had that. I did however change the grille from the original style to the chrome mesh and I added the chrome filler flap cover. It came with the chromed rear lights and chrome door mirrors (which I've never seen on a car before or since).

Adamesh sell chrome covers for the door pillars which are currently black, but I think that'd take it a step too far.

Welcome.

I agree with Elinor, you are right at that point and anymore would be too far.

Thanks guys.

I have looked at the possibility of black alloys, darker window tinting, blacking out the rear lights. I think some of it would be fine but maybe not all of it.

I don't know about the 2001's, but the 2004 X-Type I bought new came with the trim around the windows. I think it looks great as is but would hesitate to make any other appearance modifications. I especially feel the black alloys would be a mistake on a dark car - I like the contrast the current wheels offer.

Hi guys.

If anybody is at all interested this car is actually now for sale. It has MOT until July 5th 2017. Still drives absolutely fine, engine and gearbox very good but I've recently bought an estate car and as painful as it is, I cannot keep this as well.

I'm asking £1,150 for it. If anyone wants any details don't hesitate to send me a message or reply to this thread and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Car is located in Felixstowe, Suffolk by the way.

Thanks
Martin

Martin,

I was about to reply suggesting posting in PRIVATE For Sale / Trade or Buy Classifieds forum but have just seen your advert there.

Shame it has to go but I hope you get a quick sale at or near asking price.
