Default New Member in Kona with Problems!

Aloha everyone, my name is Steve M.,
I am a new member from Kona, Hawaii.
I found this forum because I lent my beautiful shiny White '03 S-Type V6 to a friend for 15 minutes. Guess what? He broke it. When he got the car back to my parking spot, he somehow jammed the transmission into Park, from Reverse and turned off the engine. When he tried to restart the car it wouldn't. The car thought it was still in Reverse, but the shift lever was stuck in Park. We towed the car to a transmission specialist and he replaced a cable. However now I have "PARK BRAKE FAULT" flashing, the ABS light is on and the Brake light is on. The one garage in town that can work on it is full up for the next month.
Does anyone know how serious this is and can I still drive it safely?

Steve, I would bet you don't lend your car to him again, and he shouldn't think you even will.

There will be someone from the S-Type section (modern) who can tell you exactly how to deal with your car so you're comfortable driving it. Unfortunately, that's not me as I know nothing about that model.

I will, however, say, Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Welcome to Jaguar Forums

Welcome Steve ... and greetings from a fellow S-Type enthusiast in Australia.

You obviously enjoy the S-Type ... what a great drive! I do encourage you to jump over to our S-Type model specific section where there is plenty to read and absorb ... and where far more of our tech experts will pickup and reply to your problem. DO NOT drive in the meantime.

Also, visit the regional section shared by other members in your area ... sounds like you need some good local knowledge of competent techs in Hawai, and I know we have several really experienced members there, but not sure which islands.

Finally, add your car details to your signature as a permanent flag to enable other members to offer accurate advice ... from Main Menu, click <User CP> then <Edit Signature>. You can use this same <User CP> menu to <Edit Avatar> to include a picture (instead of question mark) as many others have done.

All that remains is to dive into the forum ... and enjoy!

Best wishes,
Ken

Welcome to the forum nilogram54,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Follow Steve's link in post #4 to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
