Hello:

Happy to be here. I've had my '98 XK8 since 2002. It's a dark red coupe and has just over 200,000 miles.

It needs some dealer service (communication with the transmission is wonky and none of the independents I've visited want to take a guess because the computers don't have the proper translations for the codes it's returning), so I could use some advice on which service shops to favor and, as importantly, which to avoid. I do know that Rusnak Pasadena has the best prices for online purchases with local pickup, but I've never used them for repairs.

Welcome to the Forums.

Nicely run in then, double that still in that engine/system at least.

Welcome to the forums Jeff,

That's an impressive mileage so I'm not surprised the transmission is starting to complain.

I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region. That is the best place to ask for shop recommendations.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Oh, the transmission has been rebuilt... twice.

The problem now is, as near as I can tell, the communication between the engine and the transmission.

Jeff
