Hey guys, new to the site... as I may buy an 05 x-type!

Its white, manual, touch screen nav.. it seems nice. i just really dont

know much about the cars...

can someone just give me a brief rundown on what these things are like?!


i am a state inspector, tech/bodyman of many years.

Hello & welcome , nice to see you here .. The X type is the probably the least complicated of the Jag range , so no great mysteries involved . 2.5 & 3.0 l engines are pretty straight forward V6's . Manual gear boxes are pretty strong & , although people complain the permenent 4x4 is pretty bullet proof ( could be noisy ) . Things that may rear their head could be ABS braking ( faults with reluctor rings , sensors or wiring ) . Also Engine 02 oxy sensors . Thse things may throw up the EML light , but are all easily diagnose & fix& dont cost a fortune . Check the sills for corrosion , if, your area uses winter road salt .Ride & road holding is excellent , but, not a lot of room in back seats ...
