Default New member with a new (old) car

Hi all,

I have recently purchased a 2001 XJ8 3.2 Sport, and now feel qualified to join the forum!

Last year me and my dad bought a 1997 XJ6 and drove it to Rome and back (from Scotland). I passed my driving test exactly eleven days prior to hammering that thing up the French Alps.....it was an experience to say the least! We absolutely fell in love with that car as we drove it through France, Monaco, the Alps, through Italy, Pisa, Rome and back. Suffice to say, a Jag enthusiast was born.

I ran that car for about a month but as I was only working part time in retail, it was a bit pricey (fuel and insurance wise) to keep going, and unfortunately it had to move on. Earlier this year I started my grown up job as a lawyer, and began my search for another... Unbelievably the exact car was for sale on gumtree, but unfortunately a deal could not be made. The seller was more than a little optimistic. Back to the drawing board. Two weeks ago I won an auction for an XJ8 3.2 Sport on eBay, and was over the moon. Again, bad luck. The seller contacted me to say he could not sell the car as it had, "a number of problems it had developed." I'm still not sure if he just didn't want a better price for it...

Determined to not go too much longer without, I started trawling all the sites for one. Low and behold, two days later I cinched a bargain on eBay. Same model, different colour. One flight booked down to Bristol, and a ten hour drive later I have a glorious new Jag sitting in my drive. Not bad for my first car.

It's in exceptionally good condition. A few scratches, the headlining is sagging and the aerial sticks. Apart form that, all in good order!

I've read many apost here, and learnt a lot, so hopefully will be able to contribute myself soon enough. For now, please enjoy some pictures below.
