Hi gang! I have been scouring the site anonymously to gain insight into the purchase of my Big Cat, and that day has come. Thanks for being so helpful without knowing!
Today I traded my 2011 Mercury Milan (which has been a fine car) for a silver 2005 XKR with black insides and top.
She's a great looking machine that looks like it is a year old underneath with not a drip or rust spot, even though she has 81,000 on the clock.
So far, aside from a few door dings, the only problem I've found after the purchase is a bulb out behind the temp gage........not too shabby!
The ride height looks too low in front and I negotiated from the dealer that they would supply labor on my parts to change the strut tops and springs.
I'll be starting a thread on that subject to garner some opinions.
As for me, I'm fast approaching my 60's, still working as a corporate pilot, married to the same gal for 30 years and have two grown kids. My son is in the photo below and is super excited about having the XKR in the garage.
I've owned british cars since the 70's, and always wanted a Jag......now I have one and hopefully got a good one. Time will tell.
Cheers!
Jim

Welcome to the forum Jim,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
XK8 looks great but definitely sitting low at the front. The line of the sill cover should be parallel to the ground on a properly setup suspension.
It sounds like you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
