New member, old owner.
Hello everyone,
I just signed up to Jaguar Forums yesterday but I've owned Jaguars for years. My 1st was an '89 Jaguar XJS V12, Lucas ignition I bought in '95. (No longer have) Currently I have an '84 Jaguar Sovereign V12 that was imported from Germany in the late 80's and another '89 Jaguar XJS V12 with Marelli ignition, which has turned into a project car on hold. I am contemplating buying a 2016 XJL and was recently looking for information on them, which has brought me to these forums again. I have read some threads from here in the past from google searches and I have finally decided to join. I am excited to be a member.

Welcome to the forums Tom,
Good to have you with us.
It sounds like you're finding your eway around here so there's no need for any links from me.

Sometimes I wish I had that same sentiment.
Thanks Graham,
I am making my way through slowly. I set up my Signature and tried the "Quick Reply" to one of the messages, but it didn't seem to add my Signature. I am trying the "Quick Reply" to this message too, and I now notice a "Show your signature" box is checked at the bottom, so we'll see what happens here.

Hi. I have been a member for a while now and have only posted for the first time today. Having owned many Jags in my lifetime, my first being a 1966 3.8 mk11 and many xj6's as well as a 1967 s type, I recently bought a low mileage 2002.5 4.0 v8 S type for a very good price as the owner had given up spending lots of money on a few electrical gremlins that nobody could cure. It turned out to be a frayed earth cable to the battery. What a drive!!! Sheer pleasure. I am hoping that I may be of assistance in helping to cure some problems that owners may have.
Thank you.

Thank you.

Hello Kevin,
I've read a few times before on the forums about many/most electrical problems on the older Jags end up being poor connections or bad grounds. I can honestly say that I've fixed some of my electrical issues by cleaning up contacts. My '84 Sovereign had a handful of issues that were fixed that way. The older cars don't like sitting around unused either. Drive them regularly and they will develop less "gremlins".
