New member soon to have S Type
Hi all; I'm Paul from the High Peak, Derbyshire.
I'm 32, married with 2yr old twins and run my own business. I am currently looking at buying my first Jaguar to use for business (and fun); I'm looking for something nice and quick but refined enough to look great when I'm attending business meetings and such; I've thought about a number of vehicles and the S Type seems to fit the bill nicely.
I've decided to buy a 2003-2004 S Type 4.2 V8 R, hopefully in black with about 50k on the clock; I have three to view in the next week so hopefully this time next week I'll be driving one
As this is my first Jag I've no real clue on what to spot when looking at these cars, does anyone have the R and is able to tell me what to look out for when viewing?

Hello and welcome. I just bought my first Jaguar a 05 S type R....It only had 23,500 on it one owner. You should be able to get one reasonable priced. Ipayed 20,000 for mine but have seen them even less.It should come with Nav...all leather...Try and get the chrome rims if you can. Mine did notcome with them but after looking around I found some that did. I just bought before shopping around too much.

Well I went to look at one today and took it for a drive; I liked it so much that I ended up driving it home
I'm very impressed by the sheer power this thing has and the refinement it still managed to retain; very nice indeed and certainly the best car I have ever driven.
The cat's got 48k on the clock with a full Jaguar service history; no sat nav but everything else, not too bothered about the sat nav anyway but I did managed to barter the garage down on the price
I was ideally looking for a black one with cream leather but this looked so nice and the black leather interior seemed more appropriate if that makes any sense?
They had another S-Type (a diesel) with cream leather and although I know it's not quite the same I did prefer the look of the black.
So; here she is:
