Hi everyone,
We have a 2011 Jaguar XJ L, and I found this forum while searching for "restricted performance." We have had our Jag for less than a year, love it, and looking forward to more years of enjoyment! I love how it drives like a tank in the rain, and all that beautiful wood trim around the interior. Nicest car I've ever owned.

Thanks! I think I have successfully added the picture of my car to my signature...
Got a friend who is a mechanic with an OBD (i think?) device to come over and see what he can make out regarding the XJ L "restricted performance" and "engine" lights. I'm kinda hoping it's just the battery, something I read on the forum made me hope that could be it. I also read fuel injectors, catalytic converter.... do you have any other ideas? I guess the code reader is super-important?
Dealer is about 100 miles away, so we are hoping to try and address anything simple and easy first. Not driving the car....
have a good day, and thanks again!!
Nahla

YES - SigPic has worked. Signature changes appear with the next post and not immediaitely. This catches out a lot of members.

Ask your friend to give you the actual codes read by the scan tool / code reader. Generic code descriptions are often misleading when troubleshooting Jaguars and it's always best to rely on the Jaguar definitions. Members will be able to look these up for you.

Hi Graham, I posted this in another thread, but nobody replied, so i wonder if i put it in the wrong place? Also, are these codes "generic:"
I posted the following under "General Tech Help," but i think that was an error? Forgive me for posting it twice, I am so new here, and I don't know where to post my question
thank you!

Hi!
My 2011 XJ L Supercharged has the "restricted performance" and "engine" light on. Engine will turn over, then will idle but sputters and can't be driven because it would buck and limp if i tried to drive it. Battery is fine. Codes are P0087 and P2279, and all 8 cylinders are not getting enough fuel pressure according to my friend who is a mechanic with the code reader. He says it indicates "fuel rail pressure low," and the other code is "air intake system leak." He doesn't think it's the fuel pump since he could get the engine to idle fine. I don't know what any of this means, but the dealer is over 100 miles away, and I'm hoping my friend can fix my car.
Do you know what this combination of codes means for my car?
thanks so much for your help!
