Default new old guy

for 15 yrs ,after major HA, i have rode motorcycles and scoots(78--23)--no cars!!----few months ago bought MB and gave up the scoots(too many heart ops and hardware---29EJ). Beautiful car, but had oportunity to get this jag(2001 4.0 Stype with 19K miles), because the elderly lady died and hubby is blind.-----------IT is as new. I am 78yo and hope this will scatch my itch and i can stay away from scoots------------no guarantees!! Have a question.--what is difference between an S-type and and s-type R and an X type etc? are these reliable rides ?? thanks for letting me share a little of your world-----doug (kingfish)

Welcome to the forum Doug,

Wow that car is barely run in. The R is the supercharged version of the S type.
The X is a different model entirely more compact than the S and normally with AWD.

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. We have a baseline / criteria that must be met before full access can be granted. Please enjoy the forum and be patient once the baseline has been satisfied full access will be granted. Please continue to post and accept my welcome to the forum.

One other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Also, should you have questions related to your vehicle please post it in the section for your model year (MY) car. This way you will reach all the members that are familiar with your MY car.

Default car info on 2001 S type 4.0

GUS----i donot know how to add this info to signature. I have put on 500 miles now and really like the car------I have a slight miss(stumble) problem that i have addressed in the S type area. I beleive i have a "thanks" on every post i do. If i have missed, i want to personally thank everyone on this forum for individual tech help of any kind and a general thank you to members for allowing an old novice to be a part of your forum and world. where is MY CAR?? THE car i bought is a 2001 4.0 S type with 19000 miles. i got it through tragic circumstances, but such is life. It is about as new as you can get. has 6 pak CD changer in trunk. Silver with brown and cream leather interior. has bridgestone "potenza" tires that i do not care for as they are noisy. the OM called for 26lbs in front and 28 in rear so i did that and it solved the noisy and road feedback problem.-(tires have 600 miles on them when i got car and they had put 40lbs in them. sounded like a truck! i have enclosed a poor pic(will get some good ones later. THANKS to all doug

Doug, from one noob to the next....welcome.

Now to edit your signature:
  • Scroll up to the top of the page, see the black strip? Over to the left do you see "User CP"? CP=Control Panel.
  • Click the "User CP" button and on on the page that pops up look to the left side of the screen. See the box that says "Your Control Panel"? This is where you make changes to your account.
  • Scroll down to the "Settings and Options". This is where you can add your signature.
