New owner of 2003 XJ8 w/ seat replacement question
Hello all, I am new owner of my first Jaguar. A 2003 XJ8. I am wanting to replace the seats with used stock as it seems far less than new upholstery. I am finding many options for the XJ8 from 2004 on, but almost nothing for 2003. Sources online say 2004 will not fit my 2003 while 1998 to 2003 will. The 2004 seats "look" identical. Is there something about the mount or wiring that makes them incompatible? Can they be made to fit somehow? Has anyone tried? Please don't respond telling me they are listed as a no fit. I am aware of that. I am hoping someone can tell me why or how they can be made to, since they sure look the same and are easy to find. Thanks all, and please keep in mind I am new to Jaguar ownership so feel free to over explain as if talking to a 5 year old LOL.
Welcome.
The 2003 is a model change fiasco.
1998 to 2003 STEEL bodied car is the X308 in Jag talk.
2003 onwards ALUMINIUM bodied car is the X350 in Jag talk.
They may look the same, and may well be, but the control systems between the 2 models would make things awkward at best.
The related Tech section, once identified for your car, will have the answers.
Good luck.

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Before going any further, please identify which model of XJ8 you have. 2003 was a model change year.
XJ8 (X308) 1997-2003

XJ8 (X350) 2003-2009

The earlier XJ8 is steel bodied; the later model is aluminium bodied. The factory, dealers and the forum use the factory codes X308 and X350 to distinguish between these identically badged but very different models.
Once we know which you have, accurate information and advice can follow.
Enjoy the forums.
