Hello Jaguar community, specifically those of you whom share the love I have for the XKR coupe. I have for years found the sultry body lines of the x100 cars to be the sexiest ever produced by far honestly you have to admit it is a Drop dead gorgeous machine. I had always coveted my neighbors silver-stone but was decades deep into Mitsubishi's and down the rabbit hole more money than I'm willing to admit (wife might one day read this lol) into an 01 Stratus R/T {douched up eclipse} (took builders choice at VA beach hot summer nights- ripp supercharged fwd monster... I digress,,, as the kids happened life moved on without me and I sold my tuner to a builder friend of mine (frozen desserts racing, A 24hrs of lemons outfit) and years passed to now... OK enough diatribe, I own my dream project car. Just Bought a 01 XKR that is totally FUBAR= interior is trashed the motor is blown (to what degree I dont know,, I havent opened it up YET) The body all though be it British green and in good shape, will be stripped then modified heavily in its with and adorned with a fairly tasteful array of custom aero.
Note to my new community and extended family~I Know ,,,, Pictures or it didn't happen,, I just hope through this build process that I'm able to look forward to utilizing the knowledge here on this forum it seems to be filled with a unique kind of owner/members. I have read over so many threads on this forum while researching the purchase of my xkr and think this will be an interesting adventure, I will be starting a build thread when the time is right. I live in the Mountains of NC and own a small contracting company I'm going to use the car to advertise my company name at local swap meets and car shows and also it gives me a connection with my 17 year old son who helps my in the garage with delusions of grandeur the kingdom is his if I suddenly kick the bucket...

Welcome to the forums and best of luck with your project. First of all I would recommend that you do a careful assessment of what the motor's problem really is. Who did the initial diagnosis and came to that conclusion? Was it a dealer, a qualified independent mechanic? It's been my experience that some shops aren't interested in doing this type of repair and will make a hasty diagnosis like a "blown engine" and quote an astronomical cost to repair, just to get rid of the customer. That being said, repairs to those engines are quite involved and costly. Proceed cautiously. The best bet might be to find an up and running wrecked XJ, buy the car and swap out the motor. With a running car you can easily evaluate the condition of the motor. These cars are available on the market at pretty low prices. I was down in L.A. in the beginning of February (how times have changed!) and found an immaculate 2004 with fairly low miles selling for $4995 at a used car dealer. A wrecked one would be much cheaper. Good luck and stay healthy.

Things are moving along.. the motor it still intact

I was able to diagnose it down to a good timing job needed after a good scope leakdown and comp.. test - Thank god lol and with that I'm throwing on new h20 pump .. oil pump.. upper supercharger under drive pulley.. lower crank sc under drive pulley.. new coils & plugs.. and of course new gaskets on everything touched. Rear diff is getting welded solid.. the transmission is being upgraded (valve body/ solenoids) by Level10 out of Jersey ... custom wide body, new paint and also interior mods are planned as well.. curently it's all torn down and the timing parts just came in the mail so any free time in the next few weeks will be going into the project..

The damn cut my knuckle son of a witch brackets for the new seats took me two tries~ it was late O'clock and i had everything drilled out in 1'4 steal then attached it all to the supplied seat sliders .. carried and wrestled the seats in the car to find out the stencil i had made was upside down~~ omg fml lol

shame nobody will fit back there to admire the detail I put into the back of the cockpit~

suede and inserts came out nice..

armrests were a pain in the tailpipe lol

the old carpet brought back to life with dye...
