I have just purchase a 2001 XJ8, so thought it best to introduce myself since I've started asking support questions. I have owned three XJ's previously. The 1st two were series 2 XJ6 cars back in the early 80's. Both of which I have fond memories of. The next was an early (89 I think) AJ40 although I can't remember the engine size, it was also an XJ6. Sadly though the memories are not so great on this car. Since returning to the UK in 2010 I have been driving Mercedes W124 Coupes, but have wanted to switch back to an XJ. So here she is. I had been considering an XJR, but eventually felt I should ease back into Jaguars and went with the 3.2 V8. Which seems pretty well equiped.

Does anyone know where I can find a vin decoder to get the full spec?

A VIN decoder will tell you no more than you already know from the information in your list. A printout from the Direct Dealer Warranty - Vehicle Details system by a Jaguar Dealer is what you need for the original factory build specification.

I can see you've already found the X308 tech section so no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
