Default New XJR Owner

Hello All,

I've been lurking here for quite some time, but only just recently created a profile. I must say, this place is a fantastic resource for all things Jaguar!

I have wanted a Jag since I was in high school (at the time I ready wanted an XJS convertible), but over the many years since then my tastes have changed and I've been looking at the XJ8 line for some time now.

I have had saved searches on eBay, craigslist, and auto trader for well over a year, but never found the right car at the right price.... Until now. I'll be the first to admit that I am rather picky and had a lot of things that were deal breakers. I didn't want a black car or a black leather interior. Certain wheels just didn't do it for me either. I was looking specifically for a 2004 or 2005 model year as the price point was more affordable. I like the silver, green, or blue versions. Of the three trim levels, I wanted the XJR. And, I really wanted the Sepang wheels.

Well, after much looking, I found one. I was located in Seattle which is about a three hour drive for me. I went to look at it and took it for a test drive. The seller wouldn't budge on his price but my wife and kids loved the car and told me to get it. I probably paid too much, but it was in spectacular condition.

I bought a 2004 XJR in Jaguar Racing Green with Sand Leather Interior. It has the rear entertainment screens, rear audio control system, 4 zone AC, adaptive cruise control, and.... the Sepang 20" wheels. It has 106k on the odometer, which is a little more than I would have liked, but I suppose it's not bad for an 11 year old car. Best of all there is not a scratch or a door ding on it anywhere.

Anyway, this is getting a little long for an introduction, so I'll continue the story over in the X350 Forum.

Best wishes to all.

If your wife and kids like the car, and your wife WANTS YOU TO BUY the car, I don't see that you had a lot of choice, no matter what you paid! Good Job, and Congratulations!

I know right... I was the one who was more willing to walk away. She said "It's only a little extra, so what? If you really like it get it" She's a keeper.
