New Year's greetings from new member
Hello to all Jag addicts
I live in Athens,Greece, and am very pleased with my sept.2007
autom.2.5 X-type Executive(the export version of the UK "Sovereign")
saloon(bought new)-I have done 29k miles with no problems--I
woul only like a softer ride - at 10k miles I replaced the factory
225x45x17 Contis with equivalent Dunlop SP SportMax - these
are much softer and quiter, but it seems they are no longer in
production--I'll have to find something similar pretty soon....
My other little grudge concerns the"a little lazy" auto gearbox-but
I have come to terms with that by now...
Am an old Jag fan-in the mid & late 70s I owned ,consecutively,
two of the late sixties "S"types-first a 3.4lt RHD and later a 3.8lt
LHD-both manual-these were fantastic cars,though they required
frequent visits to the repair shop...
My other car is a Rover 820Si 2.0lt automatic saloon-bought brand
new in mid 1995-and also going strong,at almost 190k miles-a very,
very nice and comfortable car which I hope to be able to keep
for life--being in my mid sixties now, as may have been evident
already..
Well, enough for the time beeing,
All the best to everybody once again----and any ideas about tire
replacements on my X-type most welcome.

Thanks again to everybodyfor your welcome-
---FOR NORRI--thirstier they were-but not that much-I had driven from Exeter.U.K.
to Athens-keeping detailed notes-in the 3.4 and averaged 21 miles per gallon-the
3.8 figure was about 20---I now get about 28-29mpg on the Xtype(and I am not
too heavy-footed)---still,I think these, and the MkII, were the nicest Jags ever made...

Regarding tires, I don't know if you can get them in Greece or in the right size, but many of us on the XK8 & XKR forum are very pleased with the Hancook Ventus V12 Evo.
