Smile Newbe

Hi folks, I live in a coastal town called Southport in Merseyside in the north west of UK. Yep! I've joined the happy band of Jag owners and enthusiasts on this forum and look forward to some interesting spats with like minded people.

My baby is a previous two owner Silver X type V6 SE Auto Saloon(2003) 100k miles and drives superbly (love it !!!)

This is the Ford/Jaguar production model with the Ford Duratec V6 engine as fitted in the Ford Mondeo with some Jag refinements, a good unit i'm told but has some maintenance issues.

I have a slight engine oil leak which on inspection seems to spread around the sump pan area and so is hard to detect exactly where is is coming from. I have read somewhere that the sump gaskets are known to fail and are a bit of a bugger to replace.

I have looked closely st the front prop shaft seal area and this may be the reason for some of the oil leak but not all, could the rear prop shaft seal also be the cause of some of this?

Hello,
There are probably more Ford Jaguars extant than British Leyland models; certainly more Ford Jaguars are on the road un US.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
