Default Newbie in the Jaguar world....

Well we probably jumped out of the fry pan and into the fire on this one... A guy at work asked if I was interested in this Jaguar he had. Said it had been stored inside for the past 10 or 12 years and it ran.. My ears perked up, what can I say? Since the kids are finishing college and out on their own, it's now dads turn to play.. So we talked about the car and I went and took a peek.. It's a 1984 Jaguar XJ6 Vanden Plas with a 4.2 with a (GDA)Silver Sand metallic clearcoat paint job, and (AEE)Doeskin interior.. We started it up and it purred like the cat it was. Sounded super.. I was done for righ then and there.. He wanted it to go to some one that would take care of it and he only wanted a grand for it.. Sorry to say, but I have never gotten into my wallet so fast in my life.. I intend to do a total re-build on it. It has a small spot of rust on the rear end andd a spot on the fire wall. fenders and rocker panels all looked great. Inside is almost mint, a good cleaning and buffing inside and out should help.. Living here in Maine, the project will probably be on hold until the spring. But I can't wait to start.....

Default Thanks

I just up-loaded pictures of my new toy.. I have been surfing around here most of the day. (on vac for a week) I have noticed that there isn't to many owning the early 80 car. Could you point me in a direction to find info on this Jag.. Factory service books; electrical, vaccum, fuel and other schematics. Thinking this is going to be a total over haul..
