Default Newbie needs advice

The 1971 Jaguar E-type (XKE) V12 2+2 will arrive tomorrow. It will need some sorting. My mechanic is still recovering from COVID; he won't be back to his shop for >a month.

I am purchasing a 12V BATTERY TENDER brand charger. I'd like to use the cigar lighter to charge this car. Does anyone know if this method will work with this car?

TY,
Doc

Welcome to the forums mglamarmd,

I would be very surprised if it does but it's a long time since I had an E-Type and there was no such thing as a tender in those days.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/e-type-xk-e-59/ to the E-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-southwest-37/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Hello, Doc,
If your lighter is live with the key off then you should be able to charge it through that socket. My 76 Series 2 will work like that.
However, as GGG has said, members of our E-type section will know for sure.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the Forums.

Memory, haha, I am with Elinor, that lighter was live 24/7, so it should work, but its been too many years.

Good luck.
