After years of lurking through vintage car spaces and kicking virtual tires, I leapt off that cliff last week and landed in a 1975 XJ6 Series II with a carbureted 5.2l GM 350 married to a T400 transmission. I know. Drag strip madness. It's a bit of a kludge swap, and as expected most of the electronics are well into their legendary Lucas state of not working or spookily working at 3am any random night. Apologies to my neighbors. Say what you will, but it's all of that mess rolled into one car that has me smitten.
If you're in Southern California, you may see me sneaking in joy rides on coffee breaks, lunch time, unnecessary errand runs, and of course the weekends. I'll do my best to not be burden and to add some value to this space even if it's sharing the comedy that will be my own wrenching blunders. Cheers to everyone here.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar Series 2!
Now, don't be too quick to be making fun if that power train combo, my car could be a Twin of yours, even down to the color as far as I can tell from here.
For sure you'll know which car is Yours in the parking lot, without having to see which of the Soulless blobs answer to your fob (IFF, that is, you have a wireless alarm). You'll be able to spot that cute little butt sticking out from the line of blocky clones without even trying.
As for Lucas, Prince of Darkness, cleaning connections is the trick to it all. I can tell you how I know that.
And besides. What would be the fun or adventure if you got into a car, Any car, and it just went?? You could have any of the soulless hoards that clog our roads today for that. But now you have a Classic Jaaag! Own It!
Thanks! No doubt there, though coming from mostly motorcycle maintenance chasing gremlins out of this harness will be a new level of self-inflicted joy for me.

@Grant Francis, the above is in response to you. The new-to-the-forum training wheels mode is strong over here.

Ha no fun being made here, just appreciating the juxtaposition. As for the perils of the prince of darkness, the first thing I bought beyond the car itself was a can of QD cleaner. My daily driver is one of those trucks that just always works and is now the ol' reliable parts runner.
