Default Rapid welcome into Jaguar ownership

I'm a new member and a new owner. I have never owned a Jag before but driven plenty, 3 weeks ago I purchased a 2003 XKR with only 13k miles. I was more than pleased with myself after looking for 10 months for the right car. Well so much for me, 2 weeks into ownership I lost the fuel pump. So now I'm trying/learning to be much more humble.

My XKR is a black on black convertible, (never owned a convertible before either, closest thing was a surrey top TR3 from the 60’s) and I live in the Pacific Northwest, just outside of Seattle. While soft-top ownership may be considered questionable in the PNW, a clear day makes this the most beautiful place I’ve ever lived, and a soft-top makes it heavenly. Ha except this week, with the Jag in the shop, we would have the hottest day of the year to date in Seattle, that hurts.

Hello and welcome to jaguarforums.com. I know that you are anxious to get started and we are anxious to meet you and talk about your car. We have a baseline / criteria that must be met before full access can be granted. Please enjoy the forum and be patient once the baseline has been satisfied full access will be granted. Please continue to post and accept my welcome to the forum.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.

Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

MJW, welcome to the forum. I spent some time in the Sea-Tac area and know what your talking about regarding the beauty of the area. I have a similar scenario to you, I purchase an 07 XKR with 14K and within two weeks had to replace the fuel pump. But, since then all is grand with the XKR. Best of luck to you in the future with your rag top. Enjoy your time here and post a pic when you can.

Welcome to the forum, enjoy your Jag in all weather, except for thick snow. Wooly hat, mitts and a scarf, can be your friends.

Thanks for the warm welcome and replies to questions. I was finally able to post some photos of my baby in the photo section. It is a 2003, but with a few tweaks, like the grill update, borla exhaust and cold air intake. Other goodies include 20" BBS rims, Nav and Premium Sound. The best part was I picked this up with only 13K miles, it still has the "New Car" smell. I'm lovin' it so far.

Actually consider it a blessing! Top down when it is very hot is as bad as sitting at a light on a motorcycle on a hot day with a helmet on. Not fun! Time for you to build a tool inventory, dig in the forum and enjoy your cat.

MJW- welcome the Forum@!
I am also (still) a recently joined junior member and hope to meet the minimum requirements sometime soon, powers that be allowing!
I'm also a new Jag owner - bought a 2-owner '03 XK8 (88K on it, though) in NC and drove it home to my home in the Cincinnati area. You are so right - my first drop top ride through the area was eye-opening (so much to see and enjoy all around!). I, too have had some teething problems but am slowly getting up to speed with the help of the great people of this forum. My experience so far: various intermittent messages (gearbox fault, dsc fault) which may now be under control with a new battery in the boot (the gearbox shifts flawlessly all the time). Also had some improperly installed tires and wheels, but that is all fixed now and kitty has the required new paws all around.
Anyway, welcome again and have great fun with your Cat!

Welcome to the forum, good choice of cars, and BBS wheels, I love the looks of the Detroits on these cars. Sorry to hear about your fuel pump, hopefully the cat will give you many miles and smiles.
