Default Red5 checking in

Hi all

I recently jumped in with both feet and purchased a 99 Reg XKR coupe, as a weekend car, something that would be more practical than the open top ,no windscreen kit car I had just built driven and sold.

I did a lot of research on this site , (and thanks to all of you in retrospect ), and got a peach or so I thought , 74k mileage , stainless steel exhaust , private XKR plate, always garaged etc etc .

So after 90 miles of care free , and 'spirited' driving - massive smile on face from the burble and lots of admiring looks , it refused to start and was stranded on the drive. I tried to self diag (it was a fantastic drive ornament!)and eventually after a week I got the local garage ( Haynes workshop ) to come and take it away to have a go.

long story short water jacket or gasket had gone and they got it to hydraulic in the garage - que phone call and sit down moment.

This was always going to be a keeper of a car so the work to fix has been given the go ahead, (albeit xmas for the kids this year will be very retro , maybe a stick and stones if they are lucky)

I am still smiling and looking forward to getting back in the car - and hopefully meeting up with some of you in and around the apple county.

cheers all

Welcome to the forum red5,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Ouch! Not a good entry to Jaguar ownership.

I can tell you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
