Default Rob In Australia

Hi guys,
Brand new to the whole Jaguar marque. Having retired from 32 years of service in the Australian Airforce earlier this year, I decided I would reacquaint myself with car and motorcycle restoration now that I have (some) money to do these things.
Initially, I bought a 1984 Honda VF1000F motorcycle but that was pushed aside (for now) when I bought a 1963 Mk1 MGB roadster. This is in bits and I'm in the process of removing rust, replacing panels and acquiring the bits to make this a nice little performance car. However, on the weekend a pop-up ad appeared on Facebook marketplace for a 1977 XJS V12 about 20 minutes from home. After having a look at it and assessing the rust work, I, basically, couldn't say no. As of this Tuesday coming I will be the owner of another car restoration project. I did some research on the XJS issues (particularly with cooling in Australia) and, for the price, just went ahead and bought it anyway. The rust doesn't concern me so much as I am already becoming quite adept at repairing this with the MG. Mechanicals also don't phase me so much. Biggest issue in Oz is likely to be access to repair panels so I may be fabricating the ones I need. The sills look OK. Passenger door lower needs some repair, the LH and RH front window corners on the scuttle panel need work and the passenger side rear floor is shot. Thats not much compared to what I am doing on the MG though!
Anyway, looking forward to gleaning as much info from this and other XJS forums as I go through this process. My intention is to build this car up for my wife whilst I get to cruise, top down, in the MG.

Grant can sort you with cooling problems. Not an issue from what I have seen so far.

Welcome.

Well done.

The V12 ONLY has cooling problems due to lousy maintaining of the cooling system.

Mine had NO issues once sorted properly.

Good luck.
