Default Royce in Auckland

Good morning. Thanks to this forum I have confidently purchased my very first Jaguar, a 2006 XJ8. After cruising car yards, driving innumerable versions of the ubiquitous Toyota Corolla, and having my daughters as judge, the Jag wins hands down.
So, a tentative bite on a red with bone leather 2004 model with a very nice price was considered, but that auction went beyond the bargain price so bowed out.
Spotted a white 2006 model yet to be landed. A $200 deposit secured first look, and on that first drive once it came off the wharf, decided this was the one. Yes thats a freshly landed Jap import. 100k. Black leather interior. NZ$17500.
Now begins a period of to and fro the dealership while those gremlins get sorted. Saggy headlining, airbag light stays on. Not too bad given the long list of foibles outlined by Cambo in his thread. It was knowing what possible problems lay ahead and that solutions abound here that gave me the confidence to go ahead.
Now a happy kind of chappy, the Hippy Chippy rides with his princesess, safe, snug and comfy in this gorgeous cruiser. In its black and white livery it a standout motor. Actually I think I will go buy thechaffeur hat and sitoutside the hotels downtown as VIP luxury transport. (NOT). Thanks again. Look forward to posting pics and story of progress.

Congratulations on your First Jaguar!

Your daughter shows Excellent judgement and taste! This car will Definitely not get lost in the mediocrity of the Honyota fog, and not just because it's RED, my Second favorite color right after Black.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Thankyou for the warm welcome. The car I ended up with is like a wedding car in white. The black leather is very sharp and kiddie proof a compared to the bone and tan most prevalent. Just havent spotted this colour combo before. It is a bit taxi like. So far droopy headliner replaced with something not quite right, yet close enough and done for free as it was deemed to be damaged on arrival. Sure is a nice drive after my 78 Celica XX cruiser. Innumerable large Peugeots, ( a stint stuck on 604s), Volvos, never brave enough to go for Jaguar, which indeed sets the standard in luxury and performance. My first encounter with the x350 was the New York Motor show in 2003. Its polished aluminium body sparkled brightly in a sea of colour. A Maybach to its left, its quiet lack of ostentation sparked much interest. And lighter than a BMW Mini in bodyweight I read here. For my girls and I there was no question. Lets hope the long list of dreaded niggles keeps at bay awhile. So much car for so little money is amazing. Buying an extended warranty will defray future bills! Cheers!

Hmm. Where did I get the idea it was red?? It'll still Never be mistaken for a Honyota!

Bear in mind the car is 10 years old. Unless it was well loved (cats need a Lot of love), one can expect a bit of deferred maintenance catchup.

Someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can find Loads of help and advice about your car, and/or just hang out with other owners.

You were brave enough for Pugs and Volvo and NOT Jagaur, MMMMM.

No matter, here you are, and that is a classic colour combo.
