Default Same things that make you smile, can make you cry

Hello all,

I'm sitting here after just having purchased my first Jaguar after admiring from afar for almost 15 years (all of which I have been in the Army). I waited and sacrificed for a long time and finally took a leap of faith to buy a very well taken care of 2011 XJL Portfolio! I am all smiles and very proud of my decision. At the same time I'm as close to tears as anyone could be right now. While driving home today from picking my mother from the airport, a chunk of ice flew off the top of a car in the next lane and landed directly on my hood. things definitely could have been much worse (Noone was hurt) but my hood has a black eye. I'm just thankful everyone is ok. Is it a no-brainer that I need to take this to the dealer for repairs? There isn't any paint damage and dent looks like can be popped out. Please advise.

Oh, Man, that's Poor!!
We used to call that The Zeinman Effect; the beloved new car that seems to be a disaster magnet.

If you think it will just pop out, give it a try. The worst that can happen is that it might need a little ironing, but you might get away with it and no one will know unless you tell them.

Welcome to the forums form ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum jaguar_soldier,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Sorry to hear about the damage. The dealer would probably send it out to a bodyshop for repair so you might as well save their add-on and go direct.

Follow Norri's link in post #6 to the X351 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome.

Take Graham's advice, go direct to a body shop.
