Cool Sluggish Mover

Hi everybody,

I have owned my Jaguar X Type 2.1 Petrol Manual since it was new in 2003 and it has served me very well over the last 11 years.

I will never forget the day it was delivered, I thought this is the car for me and have never since considered selling it despite a few minor problems that were relatively easily rectified.

She was bought in UK but now I have moved to Ireland and there are only two Jaguar dealers that I know of in the country, and both of those are a long....long.....long way away. Mind you over here they'd tell you "ah sure it's only down the road"

As I said I do not want to change her for something else as I have become very attached, as I am sure many of you are as well, but I am unable to drive her.

A problem has developed that has probably been dealt with elsewhere on the forum in the past, and hopefully one of you will be able to point me in the right direction.

She loses power under drive..... on the flat or in the drive she will rev all day long without a murmur with sweet sounding engine. However when I try to drive her up a slight incline her engine cuts back, struggling to reach even 1500 revs.

I have changed the fuel filter and the cats, have also changed the air intake and exhaust gaskets, which seemed to help, but the problem is still there.

The MIL light is not on, so I cannot seem to find out what the problem is.

Could it be the fuel pump? Or something more simple that I have overlooked?

Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

Looking forward to being a member of the forum for all it's great info.
