Hello everyone! Wanted to introduce myself as I expect to pick up a 2000 XJ8 with 49k on the odometer this June.

I am originally a Volvo guy, currently driving a 1998 Volvo S70 T5 with 188k miles. Lowered on IPD sport springs and Koni yellows - a very enjoyable and responsive ride but I could not pass up the opportunity to purchase a Jaguar from my grandfather with the deal he is giving me.

I have been browsing the forums for some time now, looks like plenty of good information is abound! I plan on installing a remote start/upgraded security system as I teach in Southeast DC. Would not want this car to be missing from the lot when I get out of work.

My one question...is the XJ8 enjoyable or is it worthwhile to seek out a Vanden Plaas as an upgrade? With the money I am saving on buying this car from family (the joys of nepotism), I have considered searching for a low mileage XJR so that I could enjoy the benefits of being super charged rather than naturally aspirated.

I will post pictures of the Volvo soon and will also post pics of the XJ8 when I acquire it. Thanks for having me on board.

from someone that's owns a jag xj 8 its has more than enough power and will keep up with most any car & I have had my top speed in the 150 mph now if you are looking at 0 to 60 I know 4 cyl that will do it under 6 seconds (my jag will do it in 6.5 seconds) plus when you drive it down the street people will stop and tell you how nice a jag you have, for there is no better feeling than when gives you a high five when you drive your jag

Welcome to the forum Mr_Dude,

Follow Steve's link to the X308 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Appreciate the insight. I am not necessarily looking to beat other cars, rather I just have an addiction to anything that "pulls" like a turbo or supercharger. I am considering suspension modifications but this is pending a few months of driving the car stock.
