Super cheap S-type (need help)!

-Sorry mods wasn't sure if I should post here or in the other thread-
Hey everyone! Glad to be a part of the Jag forum, I've been looking into them for a while now. Anywho, I found a guy who has an 60s S-Type Automatic that was willing to sell it to me for $1000 dollars, the body appeared mostly complete, and there was a little rust on the door and probably some underneath, but he tells me that the frame is fine (interior was a bit rough too). The seller says that it needs new brakes and battery, and while it will start, idk if it will be road worthy. I figured if I get it and like it I will keep it for a few years or if its too difficult for me to get it road worthy, I can sell it (or part out?) and make some money probably. The big issue for me is that it is so damn far away from me (8 hours one way!) and I'm not sure about the cost of shipping it over or renting a dolly to retrieve it with my dads truck. factoring all of this in, do you guys think it's worth it?

I can see you've already found your way to the MKI / MKII S type 240 340 & Daimler forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Original S Types are "Special" cars indeed, and need some serious luv and attention.

Mine served me well for many years.

Oh wow - 8 hours towing is a piece of cake!

We have just towed our baby 2000 km after going 2000 km to fetch her - worth it all the way!

If I could get an S Type for $ 1000 I wouldn't hesitate!
