Default Taking The Plunge

I've always wanted a Jag! I just turned 60 and what do you know, a little neglected 2000 Type S 4.0 popped up on my Marketplace feed. I secretly picked it up today and had it towed to a buddy's place to start work on it as a gift to my better half (oh I'm going fix it to my liking and drive the heck out of it, but tell her it's hers.....). Poor little car is rough, but I see it as my change to finally "Take the Plunge" into the Jaguar experience I've dreamed of since childhood.
Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!
Ron

Hello, Ron,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
Sounds to me like a good plan, the DRIVING THE WHEELS OFF, that is.
Downright sneaky to hide at your buddy's house while you work in it though, sounds like something I might do. LOL

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Congrats I'm a new owner also but it is the wife's car. Good luck with the project.

The X200 is a great car, just make sure the primary and secondary timing chains, tensioners and guides have been replaced. If they've been replaced, the AJ28 is a very robust engine with some exceeding 300k miles

Welcome to the forums Ron,

I've merged your two separate Intro threads.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Northwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northwest-64/ to find other members in your region.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

I'm probably not the first to want one, get one for their spouse as an excuse to be able to experience it.
Lisa has never expressed having a Jag as her dream car. But I set her up having her "Accidently" view a few pictures of Type S Jags before I got it to make sure she at least liked them (she doesn't like some if the Jags I've shown her over the years).
She said she liked the Type S Jags that have the mesh grills, guess that one of the first cosmetic changes I'll be investing in!
LOL.....
