Default Temperamental X Type

Hello to all.
I'm new to this forum with my teperamental X Type 2.0 diesel.
I've had a lot of issues with this car and everyone keeps telling me to just get rid of it. However I do not want to give up on it as I enjoy it's ride.
The latest issue was a very noisy blower motor followed by a locked up AC compressor which of course snapped the serpentine belt in the process. This was a brand new replacement of barely a year ago.
The AC specialists are now telling me that apart from a new compressor I'd need to replace the condenser, evaporator, expansion valve and drier. At a cost of Eur.1200
They're saying that the new copressor failed because the other components weren't changed and the system cleaned.
Any advise on this please? Temperatures here are presently in the 40's!
Thanks.

Welcome to the forums Jagmed,

Good to have you with us. I'd happily swap the Malta sun for the rain in England today but not with an AC problem!

Hello,
I find it absolutely Fascinating how someone can have a lot of trouble with a BMW or Mercedes and no one says a bad word.
But it you have the same trouble with a Jaguar, they all tell you to ditch it.

I mean, Where is the benefit to just Quit??
Where is the feeling of Conquest and Accomplishment in Resolving all these problems if one simply gives up??

NO, I say, you have made the right decision coming here for help to actually FIX it.
Then you can go back to your discouraging friends and say, "See! I have prevailed!"

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
