Default Trying out my first jag,

My friend hooked me up with a 1998 xj8 vanden plas,

It had a major coolant leak I fixed easily and replaced all the gaskets with the manifold off.

I have put on nearly 2000kms in one month

Its a great car to drive,

I found the transmission to shift a little lazily and changed the fluid and now the car doesn't shift out of third on really steep hills until after you peak them.

Love the car though, if it seriously blows up I would consider the car one worth keeping or doing a engine swap on.

Good for you fixing that coolant leak! That so often turns into an Ordeal for owners.
Members on our XJ8 section will be able to help you with your shifting problem. Someone will be along shortly to direct you there.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forum meowing-tricycle,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X308 forum with the transmission issue so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Canada Region forum by following this link Canada - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome.

Yep, do the catch up that the lazy PO put aside, and do it properly and repeat in 10+ years.
