Default Why do i do this to myself :)

First time Jaguar buyer. 1997 Vanden Plas. 121,000 miles w/ 6 cylinder. Some small cosmetic wear but runs good. I have always gravitated towards the old luxury cars. Had two 1990s Mercedes S500s. Just love the ride in these old barges. Wasn't looking for a car... just out for a drive. And just happened to see this 97 X300 in green with tan interior. One problem is when you slam the doors the sunroof pops up. Never been one to use a sunroof so just thinking of sealing the roof and removing the fuse. But this is only my 2nd day with the car so that might change. Hoping the forum becomes my source of information on how to maintain this beauty over the years.

Hello, Bryan,
"Why do I do this to myself?" I have asked myself that question SO many times!
Congratulations on your First Jaguar! It will get under your skin and you'll wonder why you waited so long to get one.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

I don't know why I'm perusing new member threads, but your title certainly got me.

Yep.

Well, the model you purchased is truly a bulletproof one..
Be thorough and keep up on maintenance and it will last you forever.

Weird regarding the sunroof. Never heard of that before.
though I am not too familiar with this model's quirks and have never owned one.
But I've never come across it before reading stuff.

Definitely wait on that.
While a sunroof can be a headache on older cars and I could certainly appreciate the desire to seal it up,
yours is a good one.

I'm a nut. While I have always enjoyed learning about other foreign makes and marques, I have only ever owned old Jaguars.
Can't seem to get attached to anything else. Once they are in your blood, that's it..

Despite that, and how much I have read and studied over the years, everyone knows more than I do it seems.

Can't speak for other marques, but Jaguar has an absolutely outstanding enthusiast following.
Thankfully the internet has created forums preserving knowledge from incredibly experienced people who are now getting older and passing away which will always be available to you (us).
So take heart in that.

Take care and have fun.
