Wisconsin XJ8 Vanden Plas
Hello to all. I purchased my gently used 2004 XJ8 VDP about 3 months ago. always loved the styling of the XJ, although over the years Jag has really screwed that up (square headlights in the 80's anyone?). Gotta say, I'm glad I have this previous version, as I'm none too pleased with the revamped styling on the new version. I also researched the reliability/maintenance on this version and it gets really high marks, so that was a relief as I know that problems can get costly really quickly.
Platinum exterior, Black interior.
I'm in the process of installing an audio connectivity module (ACM). This has been quite the learning process. It seems that the ACM is built by Dension, but they have nearly no info on it (there's an old link that I found here on the forum that still exists, but nothing direct from their site). What I've learned is that the version in the Jag is fiber optic and uses a protocol called D2B. Just about all the current version use a protocol called MOST. I'm trying to confirm that the Dension Gateway 500 (GW51MO2) supports both protocols, so hopefully it will work. If it does, I'll post my results under the excellent ACM thread.
I'm a consultant and don't spend a lot of time at home in Wisconsin. Looks like I'll be spending most of the year down in Tampa, so instead of popping a grand for a set of snow tires, I decided to just drive it down there so I can enjoy driving it instead of rentals each week.
Looking forward to learning from some of you that have more experience with cats than do I.

Hi Rob: Welcome to the forum and greetings both from Wisconsin and the Midwest Region. I'm one of those guys with a Jag with the squared off headlights... which I rather like. But, as they say, beauty is in the eye of the beholder! Enjoy the car and enjoy the rides to Florida. I can't think of anyway I'd rather get there than in a Jag!
Cheers,
Scott

Welcome to the forum Rob2004XJ8VandenPlas,
Wisconsin to Tampa - about a 1300 mile drive? Just what Jaguars are built for.
I see you've already found your way to the X350 tech section so no need for a link.
Scott has already given you the link to Midwest Region. You may like to visit the US Lower Atlantic Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/lower-atlantic-nc-sc-fl-ga-66/ to find other members in FL.

Scott: Thanks for the welcome. Yes - eye of the beholder. But I've always associated Jag with the headlight bumps. Kind of like Jeep and the 7 grill vents. Anyhow, to each his own.
I see the 2010 version has eliminated these again. While it still looks like a sleek ride, it doesn't look like a Jag, in my opinion - more like a Lexus. Nothing wrong with a Lexus, just not a Jag.
Where do you hail from? I'm from Cedarburg (actually, I'm originally from MN, but have moved around quite a bit - this is the last move).
