Smile Wish I would have found this place sooner...

My name is Jessica and my first car (purchased with a loan) was a Ford Mustang. I love it and still have, but decided in 2008 that I wanted something more mature and luxurious, I saw Mercedes, BMWs and Lexus' everywhere so I looked for something a little different. My grandfather had a Jaguar and I remembered how nice it drove and thought why not.

I purchased my 2003 X-type 2.5 (with 40,000 miles) in 2008 and I have loved just about every minute of owning it. Unfortunately, I came to this forum looking for help on engine replacement because with 117,000 the engine is ruined.

Hopefully I can get it back on the road soon. I love the smoothness of the ride and the great handling of the AWD. My Jaguar is a manual, same as my Mustang.

Welcome to the forum Jessica,

Sorry to hear about your X, I see you have posted in the X Type section, so should get some advice there.

I too am sorry to hear of the death of your engine. The X-Type was probably the nicest entry level premium car out there at the time. An acquaintance of mine who happens to be a former Jaguar dealer told me she sold so many of X Types, she couldn't believe it when the model was dropped by Jaguar.

Any possibility of just replacing the car?

I look forward to the advice, I'm at a stand still, but luckily I still have the Mustang, and it still runs great. I don't want to get another car, this one is almost paid off, and I really enjoyed driving it, so I'm going to do my best to get it repaired.

Thanks for welcoming me.

Thank you all again! I'm sure I'll get some good info, it certainly can't get worse. Either way the engine has to be replaced :-)
