Default X Type owner from New Zealand

Hi there. Just joined the forum. Hi everyone.

I'm in Auckland, New Zealand - the largest city in NZ at about 1.5million. I bought a 1995 Jaguar X-Type 2.1l auto about 2 years ago - it had just 45k Kms on the clock. Shortly after I bought it, the engine had a stuck valve - requiring a head rebuild. Ouch.

Seems like these Jags can be a bit cantankerous.

Anyway, that's me. Hoping to benefit from the great advice and shared experiences of fellow Jag owners on this forum. I can see there's a lot of experience here!

cheers from down under,

mark

Welcome to the forum Mark,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Thanks all! Good to see so many Kiwis and Ozzies on here!

Don't suppose any of you can shed any light on this problem:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...x-type-182927/

Car's in the panel shop at the moment, but will try Dell's suggestion of checking the battery cables and battery when she's back. Looks like that can be a regular issue on the X-Types and cause all sorts of sundry issues.

Not sure it is the ignition switch ... but the guys at the Toyshop seem to think that's the cause. I did find that if I pulled out the key and reinserted in the lock a few times it would often clear the problem. So I did wonder if maybe the tumbler on the lock was faulty. Any thoughts?

Cheers

Mark
