Hi all, Martin here from the west midlands uk,
I changed the battery in my smart key after seeing "smart key battery low" on the dash, i put the correct battery in and now it will not even open the doors, can anyone give a clue how to fix this problem or do i need to have the smart keys re mapped >
Thank you, Martin O'Toole.

Welcome to the forum Martin,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

There's not much to go wrong with a battery replacement other than ensuring it's fitted +ve downwards. A duff CR2032 battery isn't unknown. Does the other Smartkey work?

Ouch!

You must be able to open the car with the emergency key blade.

When you dock the Smartkey do you get SMART KEY NOT FOUND, PLEASE INSERT IN SLOT message or does the car start?

Hi Graham
I can access the car with the key blade and start it when the smart key is docked but the screen still says "smart key battery low", i cannot open or close the car with the smart key.
Thanks, Martin.

Since you changed both and now both are weak, I'd say it's the batteries sometimes they sit in a shop for a long time. They could have been improperly stored as well. Get a couple from somewhere else and try it.

Hi Rhomanski
I did just that on Sunday afternoon and unless i have been really unlucky by buying weak batteries on two occasions, i have the same fault as in the first place, thank you for your reply.

If you hold it in your hand can you just walk up and open the car? Are you perhaps keeping in someplace that is attenuating the signal? If not it may be a little corrosion on the antenna connection possibly.
