XJ 220.... New Member
I have just purchased a 1993 XJ 220. I thought I might introduce myself and possiblly start a thread detailing the major service of my XJ 220. It might save someone else the headaches that I am sure I will encounter. I purchased the car from Ferrari Of Atlanta. It is in near perfect condition but has not had any service preformed in the last 10+ years. So, before you start beating me about the cost, I am not new to this ( I collect Ferrari's) and the cost of service was figured in to the sale price . It will be an interesting project to get the car updated and serviced. So far I have managed to get the license plate and insurance done. Not off to a screaming start but off to a start. By the way Ferrari of Atlanta will be doing the work so it will be a professionally done. I have great faith in Wade! So, if anyone is interested I will document the process here online as well as for myself.
Regards
George

Welcome to the forum. Awesome car. Saw it online when it was for sale. I know maint. is an issue as few if any mechanics were trained in the car or possess any of the tools since it was not a car that was imported here...at least I don't recal that it was slated for the US.
Enjoy it and best of luck with your rare cat

Welcome aboard.
Speaking of XJ220s....
I finally got back to the one I've been horsing around with. I was dreading a complex problem so I was pleasantly surprised when a new set of plugs was all that was needed to make the engine purr again. The plugs it had were the wrong type, fouled, and wayyyyy incorrectly gapped.
Yes, please post back with your experiences regarding repair/servicing.
Cheers

Welcome to the forum, GGamble! There are few XJ220's lurking around here, so any thing you can document will come in handy…and it would be really cool for the rest of us mere mortals who can only dream of owning one I'm looking forward to hearing about the trials and tribulations, as well as the joy of driving it.

Hi George,
Welcome to the forum and a great ride! You and Wade might want to contact Don Law as he is considered the XJ220 guru. His shop is in England though.
