Default XJ Series 2 , 1978 , lost key

Hi,

From sunny Netherlands.
I just registered myself.
I am driving a x-type for the every day driving.
On top I got a XJ6 from 1978.
I had until last week only one key and somebody else lot it.
I contacted the local dealer and they were not sure if it would be possible to get a new key for the car.
Does anyone have experience with such a problem?
By the way the key is the same for the contact and the central door lock.

Welcome.

Not sure in Holland, but down here any "decent" locksmith can make a key to suit the barrel.

They dont like doing that with the barrel still attached to the car, but I have found a suitable alcoholic bribe does the trick.

Hi Graham,

Thank yoiu. I found now a locksmith just around the corner in Holland.
But it looks as if I can also get a genuine key from a company called Hurkxens in Holland, who can eliver it via the chassisnr. I am waiting for that first.

Kind regards
Frans

Frans,

Good to hear you found a local source. I had both Series XJ6 I and Series II in the 1970's. If I remember correctly, the original keys were manufactured for Jaguar by Wilmot Breedon and Union.

I suggest you buy 2 keys this time!

Graham
