Default XK 4.2 engine change compatibility

Hi all,
I have a '71 E Type 4.2. My question is what engine from the XK series can I use that will fit? Mine has the original engine and I will rebuild it at some time but I would like to fit a (late model?) XK saloon engine to keep driving the car until then. Will an A/T engine accept my M/T flywheel? Stuff like that. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Cheers
