XK8 in the UK
Well howdy everyone, great to be part of such a dynamic community. I've lurked and researched using your fora, and am grateful for the information. I'm particularly grateful for the pics of corrosion, advice on timing chains, heater pumps, seat controls and throttle bodies.
As a result, I've just bought an XK8, 1997, which was born with heated seats, traction control and CATS as optional extras. It doesn't have cruise control (Grrr), but has been meticulously maintained and only has 77k on the clock. Taxes in the UK encourage the ownership of Pre 2006 cars, so went for a early car.
I'm in the middle of getting her MOT'd (annual tech exam in the UK), which will involve replacing the shock lower bushes and rear tyres. I'm fairly DIY minded, but won't hesitate to call on my local professionals for bigger tasks.
Questions at the moment revolve around what the connectors hidden behind the rear bumper (fender) do, whether it is worth cleaning up the fuel system using Terraclean or similar and whether I'll manage to get the car to Germany and blast her up to 155mph legally.
Cheers,
Malcolm

Hi XJS Girl,
Thanks for your kind complement. The car has paint code LFA which 30 seconds of googling tells me is "Titanium mica-met 95-98". Its a bluey grey that looks great in the sunshine (which you will be more familiar with than I here in rainy UK) Here's another study:
