Default zf6hp26 taking in less fluid

I joined the forum to get info on the zf6hp26. I have a 06 range rover hse. i have been fixing a few things on it. I did a transmission service where i replaced the pan , fluid and ecu connector. I had to redo the ecu connector as it did not seat right. After the second time replacing the fluid it would not take anymore than 3 Quarts. Someone suggested maybe there air trapped in there. I tried again and could not get it to take anymore than 3 quarts. I followed the transmission fluid check and change to the letter using a thermal gun and alive code scan to check the temp. Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Over 200 views and no guesses? Could a stuck solenoid or solenoids hold the extra fluid?

So basically you have no idea where you are at. Does the trans have a dip stick?

no dip stick. You measure what you have in the tranny but what leaks out after you put the fluid in. Thats why i know something is wrong because it starts to leak out at 3 quarts.

Have you tried driving the car since the work has been carried out?

I have driven it. 1 and 2 shift badly and so does 3 and 4. i have an error code for the torque converter solenoid. But i am not sure if the solenoid is whats holding the fluid. my understanding is that there should be 10 to 12 quarts and i should be able to drain 6 to 7 quarts. so i am missing 3 or 4 quarts. i believe that the missing quarts are still in the tranny. What i need to figure out is if a solenoid can do that. or if it is something else.
