We are in the market for a 1998-2003 XKR.

I hope your budget includes luxury shipping, because Really Nice X100 (1997-2005) body XKRs with low mileage are around $12,000-16,000, USD. You could almost get three and have a stable of them for your $40k. Course, I don't know what $ you're using, being a Kiwi and all that. (kiwi isn't a derogatory term, is it? hope not)
Sadly it doesn't work that way. You cannot import an XKR to Australia unless you've been living abroad and owned & used the car while you've been living away. And you can't register left hand drive cars newer than 25 years old, so either way cheap modern Jags in the US is irrelevant for us...
Peter, aside from the usual carsales, autotrader, gumtree, ebay & so on, have a look at the various Jaguar club websites in Oz, the NSW JDCA has a classifieds section & XKR's come up for sale there every now & then, I imagine the other state clubs would also have something similar. Also have a look for jaguarmagazine.com in newsagents, various dealers and private sellers advertise in there too, the most recent edition had a 2000 XKR for sale in Perth (Roadbend) with BBS wheels, Brembos, etc... for $40K, emerald colour with barley interior.

Thanks Ceej and Cambo.
A Kiwi Ceej. Really
That was meant to be a beating. We love our NZ cousins but a Kiwi I am not.
Although some say that NZ is another state of Australia.
Thanks for the heads up Cam. I have been on the club websites.
I should have an ad in each of Vic , NSW and Sth Aust by now. Their magazine guys had said they would organise it. I haven't seen them on line yet though.
Patience will pay off

OK, sorry about that. Anyway, going by this new information, I'm glad I'm not stuck on an island like you are. $40k for an XKR is hugely expensive for what I'm used to seeing.
I wish you luck with your endeavor!
