Default Doing my research

Hello all!
I updated my signature, thanks to JimC64 and Graham as well as all the rest!
Here is my story...
The issue I'm experiencing with door locks:
Passenger front will not lock or unlock using the fob or driver lock button.
Rear locks will not lock or unlock using the fob or driver button.
Driver lock will lock then unlock and lights flash 2x.
At first glance it would appear passenger front actuator is to blame, however -
At the same time this malfunction occurred, the trunk latch stopped working as well. Can't open with fob, dash switch, or trunk button. (valet switch not engaged) Only opens by key.
The "drive and lock" function also attempts to lock the doors, driver's lock is the only one that responds and then unlocks as soon as system recognizes the passenger doors fail to lock. As mentioned in original post, Jag dealer evaluated for two days and came back to me with "probably left rear body ecu, need to replace for $x,xxx.00 and then retest, not certain this will cure it".
From info on the web, unless I can get the exact part number for the ecu, I'll need to reflash/reprog the ecu if I replace myself? Would you all recommend starting with the passenger lock actuator before pulling the ecu?

Thanks in advance

PDX first welcome to the forum!

I have been battling a similar battle with our '05MY rear driver door actuator. BUT I don't have the trunk (boot) problem.

The locking actuators all interact with eachother, where hense the dealer is stating the ecu is bad.

Try this first:

1) Be on the outside of the unlocked vehicle.
2) Using the key in the drivers door handle, twist twice rearwards (from 12 o'clock position to 3 o'clock), that should lock all doors.
3) Physically walk around and lift each door handle to see which (if any) are locked.
4) Report back here.

To unlock simply twist (rotate) key form 12 o'clock to 9 o'clock.

While you're at it, check your battery. How old is it, etc...

Jayt2,

Battery is good in fobs and car. Fob only functions on driver's door. Will try the Joycesjag test and report.

Tried the test and 2 things occur.
1, Only the driver's door responds and 2, it immediately unlocks. Tried a number of variations on timing and duration of the key turn(s) all with same result. I've read all the prior references the forum listed as similar to mine and in each case the thread appeared to end unresolved?

The ones I've read about were fixed by changing a lock mechanism with its microswitch(es). Never noticed how you tell which one to change, though!

Generally it would be the one that doesn't lock using the key in the drivers door method.

hhmmm.....

Try a shot of WH40 into the lock mechanism and see if it frees up the micro switch first. I found on the XK8 mechanism it suffered from a lack of attention and a little WD40 seemed to help.
