Default $%@!$ A/C!!!!!!

I recently got a new compressor and dryer put on my 2001 S Type Sport and for some reason the airbag light came on when I left the shop. I called them back and they said "we didn't touch the airbag stuff" but hell it wasn't on when I brought it there.

To make matters worse the A/C isn't really all that great. I don't know if it is because it is just so hot in Atlanta or if its because its an older car and I'm subconsciously comparing it to my 2011 Lincoln MKX. My main concern is the airbag light.

No idea on that air bag light.

Mine had iffy a/c, and a cabin fillter renew sorted them both. Now 2deg C at the vent.

Some more smarter than me will be along and sort that other issue.

I will check the cabin filter but what does "now 2deg C at the vent" mean?

They're listed in the handbook - I still don't know which you mean.

Jaguar S-Type airbag warning light - if the airbag symbol is illuminated in your Jaguar S-Type it means the system has a malfunction and needs to be diagnosed. We recommend using the iCarsoft i930 kit to diagnose the fault, it will give you a unique fault code & fault description which will pinpoint the problem. Once the problem/fault has been fixed you can use the i930 kit to erase the trouble codes & the airbag light from the dashboard.

Let's suppose there are 50-100 potential codes. You'd need to read the actual one(s) to know.

Do you or did you have something on the passenger’s seat at the time that may have activated the switch? I agree you need to check the OBDII codes.

Your car has several sensors and reading the codes should direct you the correct location of the fault. However, you need to know what you are doing before you start messing with this system. It is sensitive and a correct procedure must be followed! See Fig17.1

Its Aussie for Freezing COLD air coming out of the vent/s with the temp setting on LO, and the fan speed on #3.

Any colder than 2degrees Celsius at the vent/s and the evaporator will freeze up, and more issues will arise.

My X300 is 4deg C at the vent, and that thing freezes you knuckles with ease, even in our 45C summers.

Air flow is paramount, and NO, or restricted air, will give grief to you and the system.

Does that airbag light come on steadily, or does it blink first?

Do all of the steering wheel audio controls work correctly?

Do all of the cruise control functions work?

May be the clock spring. Displays any or all of the above symptoms. These can go out at almost any time. Unrelated to AC, but maybe you haven't spent enough money on the Jag this year.

BTW, probably the best $100 I spent on this car was the acquisition of the i930 code reader - specific for Jaguar/Range Rover.

Marquise,

I had a similar problem back in 2012. The air bag light would blink 3 times then six times then stay on. Didn't happen all the time either. It seemed to be random.

I can't remember how I figured it out(i'll do a little digging) But I think the blinks are a diagnostic code telling you a wire is broken somewhere.

If the light blinks, count the blinks AND the space between the blinks. This link might help.
http://www.cardiagnostics.be/-now/Ja...Flashcodes.pdf

Under the driver's seat is a wire harness. I believe the plug is yellow. I found a wire had pulled out of the connector. I think it got stretched when my wife, all 4"8" of her moved the seat closer to the steering wheel than I usually sit.

I soldered in a short length of wire, reconnected everything and it has worked since then.

Good luck.

Scott

Just a comment. Understand the cabin filter does NOT filter the air already in the car. The ONLY time you get air thru the cabin filter is from the fresh air intake. That air is at the current outside temperature. No A/C air goes thru the cabin filter ever.

Look at the air flow diagram in the JTIS.

What's going on everybody...Wow time flies...I have been dealing with this dog on AC for 3+ years now. Last year I finally put on the compressor and dryer. Still haven't figured out what the airbag light is but my main concern is the system does not get cool with it gets hot outside. It seems to cool a lil better when driving but nowhere near what it should be. There is Freon in the system, pressure is good, no leaks but it just doesn't cool down the cabin thoroughly.

I recently changed the A/C Temperature sensor and it still doesn't get cold when its hot outside. Blows cold as a witches tit early in the day and late when the sun is not 100% up.

any body have another suggestion?
