'00 S-type V8 Won't start (Battery, Key or Security issues???)
Hi, I'm new here, found this forum while searching for a fix to my problem, and after an extensive search, I was unable to find an answer to my problem, but did see that there is a lot of knowledgeable people here so hopefully I can get some answers.
Okay so here's my situation. I bought a used 2000 Jaguar S-type V8 yesterday, and was able to start it fine before I took it out for a test drive, leaving the guys house, and also last night when I was messing with some of the audio settings.
The previous owner only had one key to give me, which was one of the flip-style keys, but it's missing the remote controls, so I have to use the key manually. Anyways, I went out to the car earlier today, put the key in the slot and turned it, and sometime between that and me putting the key in the ignition, the alarm turned on, and the car would not start nor make a sound when turned. All of the warning lights on the dash turned on and the needles on the speedometer and other thing (tachometer?) went back and forth relatively quickly. I repeated this process a few time throughtout the day, and the alarm wouldn't go off every time, but everything else (warning lights, needles etc.) was the same.
After pushing the trunk open button for about 20 times (I believe this is caused by a dead battery?), I finally got it to open, and hooked up my Nissan Sentra to the battery and tried jumping it, and that didn't change a thing.
I'm not sure if this whole problem is a security issue, a battery issue, key issue or something else. I don't really know a whole lot about cars, but I'm hoping someone here may be able to help me out.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!
