Default '01 Keyless Entry all whacked out

Hello everyone. This is my first post, so I would like to thank you for helping me out.

Here is my rather peculiar dilemna. I have always had issues with my S-type keyless entry system when the weather is hot. During the wintertime it worked like a champ, but when it started to get hot outside- it would never work. Not a chirp or anything. I presented it to the dealership twice and they could not reproduce the problem. So I lived with it for the past few years. Now 6 months ago the car started doing something else. When hit the keyless entry it would sound like it was going to open, but then it closed again. Even when I turn the car on and go to take off- it acts like it is going to lock the doors, makes the noise of locking the doors, then immediately unlocks them.

So after seeing that I thought it might be the DDM, so I ordered one and made sure it was the correct one- but it still does the lock/unlock on startup- so I know it is not the DDM. I never got the FOBs reprogrammed for the new DDM and I plan on putting the old one back in (since I do not think it was the issue and I do not want to pay to have the FOBs repreogramed).

So my question is- what could this be? It has to be something with the locking system and not the keyless entry, right? Are my two issues related (lock/unlock and warm weather keyless entry)?

Any help is appreciated.

TBH i think it's an electrical issue or even a short associated with your OEM keyless entry system. I would try to take it to the dealer, and have them reprogram the whole setup along with the key and inspect for electrical shortages to see if that helps. Other then that I don't really know what to think it could be..

The newer problem with locking/unlocking sounds mechanical. I've suffered it with central locking on other cars and ended up stripping things apart, re-greasing and fixed it but couldn't figure out quite what had been wrong.

See if you're near any of the techs who post on here. They all know the car, so will be faster and will probably have encountered the fault before
